Apartment Envy

I know I've uploaded it here before, but there is this one interior that I come back to over and over again, just too look at it. The genius who arranged this little space has some how managed to combine two (literally) polar oposite color palettes: Monochromatic white & the Rainbow. After all the staring contests & a little research, I've discovered how he/she did it & how you can recreate it, too, if you are so inclined.

This gorgeous space is made possible by none other than Ikea, another love of my life. They use modular furniture/systems in the most ingenious ways. The tension rods you see going all the way up to the ceiling are part of the  Stolmen System. They're like closet space without the closet! So, if you happen to be living in a studio apartment & are caught between staying for lower rent or upgrading to a bigger apartment for more closet space, problem solved!

STOLMEN 1 section, white Width: 63 " Depth: 19 5/8 " Min. height: 82 5/8 " Max. height: 129 7/8 " Width: 160 cm Depth: 50 cm Min. height: 210 cm Max. height: 330 cm
STOLMEN 1 section, white Width: 49 1/4 " Depth: 19 5/8 " Min. height: 82 5/8 " Max. height: 129 7/8 " Max load/shelf: 55 lb Width: 125 cm Depth: 50 cm Min. height: 210 cm Max. height: 330 cm Max load/shelf: 25 kg

I believe the pieces of the Stolmen system that are used in the photo are here and here. It's a bit pricey, but if you're going to be staying in a tiny, tiny, tiny apartment for a couple years, they might not be such a bad investment. The entire system is modular so you can make it any size you want, have any of the features you want, any extra shelf, mirror, etc is possible.
